Desert Rose is a member of the mineral Gypsum family which includes Selenite and Satin Spar.  All three of these stones are so closely related (being crystal habit varieties of Gypsum), their metaphysical properties are predominantly the same.

Desert Rose is found in dry, desert areas worldwide including Mexico, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Australia, Tunisia, and Afghanistan.  Desert Rose occurs in dry conditions from the combination of Selenite, water and sand over a period of a couple of hundred years.  Desert Rose is a soft stone best kept away from liquids that may damage or even erode its surface.
