Orpiment is an arsenic sulphide mineral found geographically in areas associated with hydrothermal and volcanic activities.  Striking in appearance of all shades of yellow but also occurring in mottled colours of orange and green; the name Orpiment is derived from the latin word 'arum', meaning gold.  In history Orpiment was ground down to produce a gold pigment for paints, inks and dyes. Orpiment regularly occurs with Realgar which is produced in similar geothermic processes.

Lapis Lazuli is one of the oldest stones recorded as part of human history; honoured and adored for its deep blue colour and considered to be worthy of royalty.  This semi precious metamorphic stone is found only in a few locations with the most significant deposits in Afghanistan, Russia and Chile, yet Lapis Lazuli ornaments and other carved creations such as beads and jewellery have been discovered in archaeological sites worldwide.

Lapis Lazuli generally is comprised of Lazurite which gives the stone its intense blue colour, pyrite and calcite.  Lapis Lazuli is considered to be a stone of enlightenment, especially with reference to the self and matters of self compassion.  Regarded as an uplifting stone, Lapis Lazuli is also supportive in deep meditative practice to assist you in determining and subsequently speaking your truth with confidence and clarity.
